Anglo-Saxon Cruciform Long Brooch. Circa 5th century AD. Copper-alloy, 38.42g. 101.14 mm. A zoomorphic brooch with square head plate and three integral knops on the upper edge and either sides. The foot (lower section) is in the form of a stylised horses head. Ref: Hattatt's Ancient Brooches. p.372. fig. 231. no.1299. Repaired at the join between the bow and head plate.
